Clapham Common
Clapham Common is a city park in South London, located in two districts - Wandsworth and Lambeth. On nearly 90 hectares of greenery there are 4 ponds, the 18th-century church of St. Trinity and the Victorian cast iron stage from 1890, the largest of its kind in London. It is entered on the list of second-class monuments.
The park is a great place for sports. You can play cricket and rugby, go jogging or even fish. There are playgrounds and cafes, so you can spend an interesting day here with the children. The park hosts numerous music festivals and sporting events.
In 2007, a tree commemorating the famous inhabitant of Clapham, Jeremy Brett, was planted here. The actor who died in 1995 was known primarily for the role of Sherlock Holmes in the television series "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
