South Norwood Country Park

South Norwood Country Park is a green area with a total area of 50 hectares, put into use in 1989. Originally an oak forest grew here, then from the second half. In the nineteenth century, a municipal sewage treatment plant operated, then a landfill was created, and eventually the neglected area was adapted for recreational purposes.

The park creates excellent conditions for jogging, cycling (the northern loop of the Greenwich cycle route called Waterlink Way runs through the park) and pedestrians, as well as active sports - the Croydon Sports Arena is located on the outskirts of South Norwood Country Park. There is also a children's playground, a mini golf course, and numerous educational walks.

The main attraction of South Norwood Country Park are the vast expanses of wet meadows, abundant in flowering plants, inhabited by numerous amphibians and water birds (about 100 species). During archaeological research carried out in the 1970s, the remains of a moat from the 15th century, once surrounding the house, were found much earlier, probably already in the 13th century.
