M Shed

M Shed is a museum in Bristol located at Floating Harbor. It is located in a hangar with a docking station, formerly occupied by the Industrial Museum. Here we will hear stories about Bristol and see about 3000 objects related to this place, its culture and the people creating it. M Shed was opened in 2011.

The first what we will see in M Shed are historical ships moored in front of the museum: a fire boat from 1934 and two tugs, including the world's oldest Mayflower. In the middle we will visit the exhibition space divided into three categories: Places in Bristol, People in Bristol and Life in Bristol. We will hear, among others, about the role of this city in the slave trade, but also see how art and transport developed here.

Interestingly, the name of the museum comes from the method of identifying port booths. In addition to sightseeing, it is worth visiting a cafe, gift shop or a special learning zone.
