Orsières is a tourist destination at the foot of Mont Blanc. It offers many opportunities for active leisure, both in summer and winter.
The town consists of several villages occupying the bottom and slopes of the valley leading towards the Saint Bernard Pass. They are surrounded by alpine peaks, including Mont Blanc. The famous Tour du Mont Blanc long-distance trail runs through one of the settlements, La Fouly.
The most important attraction of Orsières is the Flore-Alpe Botanical Garden at an altitude of approx. 1500 m above sea level. Mountain plants from the Alps are grown here, both trees and shrubs, grasses, flowers and others that appear at high altitudes.
In summer, the Orsières area is a real paradise for people who like active tourism. There are over 400 km of hiking paths both down the valleys and to the surrounding peaks, including La Breya, which has great views. You can also use the all-year-round Champex La Breya Cable Car to get to the top.
In winter, several ski resorts are located within easy reach of Orsières. However, winter hiking and snowshoeing are developing in the village itself. Several dozen kilometers of trails have been marked out here for tourists when there is snow.
