Sparreholm is a small town picturesquely situated on Lake Båven. It is surrounded by forests and meadows through which many hiking and biking trails lead. In the neighborhood there is a castle with several interesting museums.
The town takes its name from the Sparreholm Castle, which was built in the 17th century, and is currently the biggest attraction in the area. It is a late baroque residence that is still in private hands today. In part of the property there are three interesting museums, the Carriage Museum, the Automobile Museum and the Technical Museum. They contain items showing the changes that took place in people's lives in the nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century. You can see carriages of an increasingly complex structure, the first cars, as well as radios, televisions, turntables, organ grinders and tools used in farm work.
Peaceful Sparreholm is also a good place for people who like contact with nature. You can go for long walks, bike rides, go boating on the lake or organize picnics.
