DEGERHAMN tourist attractions

Degerhamn is a town on Öland and a popular holiday resort. There are sandy beaches, vast meadows and plenty of places for active leisure.

Oland is one of the sunniest places in Sweden. For this reason, the local coastal towns experience a considerable siege in the summer. However, there are no large holiday centers or hotels here. Family guesthouses, apartments and chalets for rent dominate.

The island is connected to the mainland by a 6 km long bridge. So you can get here by car. It is very helpful in getting to know the picturesque and often quite remote parts of the island. There is also a small fishing port in Degerhamn, where you can not only watch the fishermen at work, but also go fishing or a cruise along the coast.

The vicinity of the village is lowland and quite flat. The landscape is diversified by groves and windmills standing here and there. The attractions of Degerhamn and the whole of Öland are the stone circles and burial mounds scattered across the fields. To the south of the town, there is an area of swamps, coastal thickets and reeds inhabited by wild birds. It is the best place on the island for bird watching. At the very southern edge of Öland, there is the highest lighthouse on the island.
