The Villa de Vallecas market hall in Madrid is a popular place among residents of the capital, offering products from Spanish producers. At the market you can buy fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables, meat, sausages, fish, cheese, bread and sweet pastries, herbs and spices. In addition to food stalls, there are also: a hairdresser, well-stocked haberdashery and a jewelry store.
Today's market hall was built on the site of an old plaster factory, which was demolished during the Spanish Civil War. At Villa de Vallecas, various events and meetings are organized on weekends.
Initially, products imported from the nearest villages and nearby dairy were sold here. At the end of the day, the waste was taken away on a donkey. Over time, the appearance of the market changed, and in the 1980s refrigerators, air conditioning and new floors were installed.
