The Museum of the Spanish National Library (El Museo de la Biblioteca Nacional de España) in Madrid presents the history of the book from the beginning. You can see here, among others materials on which texts were written over the centuries (from turtle shells and bark to parchment) and an exhibition about the famous Spanish writer - Miguel de Cervantes.
The museum has been divided into eight rooms, each with an exhibition on a different topic. Visitors will learn, for example, the history of the National Library and learn what the librarian's everyday work is. The museum also conducts educational activities, organizing literary workshops for children and theatrical performances.
One of the rooms presents 25 original texts selected from the library's collections, this exhibition is changed regularly every three months. In the museum you can also see old typewriters and antique bookbinding and typographic tools.
