The Museum of America in Madrid has a rich collection of art from areas of North and South America. Here you can see exhibits from pre-Columbian times - examples of Inca, Mayan and Aztec art, as well as colonial art. The most valuable monuments of the museum are: Stela Madrycka, the Trocortesiano Code and the Tudela Code.
The museum has about 25,000 various objects. These include figurines and ceramic vessels, stone sculptures, tools, gold products, masks and necklaces, items related to burial, such as burial urns, as well as antique fabrics.
The first exhibits that constituted the nucleus of today's museum were brought by Christopher Columbus from his travels. Spanish conquistadors returning from armed expeditions also endured gifts to the royal court.
