Museo Nacional del Traje y de la Moda, or Museum of Dress and Fashion in Madrid was founded in 1976. Visitors can see here a rich collection of dresses and accessories from different eras. They found in it, among others costumes of famous contemporary world-famous designers, such as Christian Dior, Givenchy, Coco Chanel and Balanciaga,
Interesting exhibits in the museum collection are also tunics inspired by fashion prevailing in ancient Greece, by Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo. To be able to implement his projects, he created a special sewing machine, and also developed fabric patterns. In the museum you can see the beautiful oriental materials he has collected.
Among the exposed designs, you can also admire many works created by Spanish designers, against them are the very colorful and slightly crazy costumes of Ágathy Ruiz de la Prady. The museum is located in the 17th-century Palácio do Monteiro-Mor.
