The Arganzela pedestrian and cyclist bridge connects the banks of the Manzarnes River and the Arganzuela and Carabanchel estates located on them. Its length is 278 meters. The characteristic spiral structure is the work of the French architect Dominique Perrault.
The structure of the bridge consists of two huge steel spirals surrounded by a metal mesh with a diameter of 5 to 12 meters, the southern one measures 120 meters long, the northern one - 128 meters. The pedestrian walkway and path for cyclists are protected from wind and rain, they are beautifully lit at night.
The bridge was built as part of a revitalization program for the areas on the two banks of the Manzarnes River. The project assumed the creation of a friendly space for residents and tourists. Thanks to it, over 20 ha of recreational area was put into public use.
