Mammoth

One of the attractions of the Ciutadella park is the life-size Mammoth sculpture. Children willingly climb on his fangs or sit on the trunk.

The sculpture was erected in 1907. It reflects both the actual appearance and dimensions of the animal. This is another element of surprising buildings and monuments that have found their place in the park of Ciutadella.

The originator of the construction of the Mammoth was a Catalan geologist and speleologist, Norbert Font and Sagué. His dream was to create an entire park of fossil animal sculptures. With the help of the sculptor, Miquel Dalmau he was able to realize the idea of building a Mamut sculpture. Further projects were interrupted by the scientist's death.
