The Barcelona zoo is located in the southern part of Ciutadela Park. About 13,000 animals belonging to 400 species live here on 13 hectares. The garden has one of the world's largest herds of gorillas. Dolphins are also bred here and are used for water acrobatics shows.
The zoo was opened in 1892. it presents animals from around the world, including giraffes, various species of monkeys, capybaras, as well as bisons and storks. The pavilions are located terrariums, aviaries and places for reptiles.
In recent years, the zoo has opened a new branch on the coast. Sea animals from various environments and climate zones are presented here.
