The Generalitat Palace is the seat of the President and Government of Catalonia. Located in the Barri Gotic district. It is a 16th century building with a Renaissance facade and an internal courtyard with orange trees.
The palace was built in the last years of the 16th century. It owes its shape to architect Perem Blaia. The facade of the building is regular and harmonious. It is crowned with an attic, and the main entrance is surrounded by a columnar portal. The palace has a quadrangle shape with an internal courtyard.
Despite the introduction of the latest technology to the building, especially in the field of communication, the rooms have largely retained their appearance from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. The representative Saint George Hall stands out here, divided into three naves covered with different vaults. A reliquary with the remains of this saint is kept in the chapel of Saint George.
