The Maritime Museum is housed in the building of the medieval Drassenes shipyard at Port Vell. It presents fishing boats, ship models of Christopher Columbus, a collection of old maps and navigational instruments, as well as elements of ship equipment. Its ornament is a replica of one of the greatest ships of the Spanish galley Juan de Austria.
The Drassenes shipyard functioned from the end of the 13th to the 18th century. Its renovated building is in itself an interesting architectural monument. It consists of semi-circular naves supported on stone columns, with wooden ceilings. Side, large windows provide light.
The interior presents collections related to the development of sailing art and the history of the shipyard itself. Part of the museum is also the Pailebot Santa Eulalia from 1918 moored on the waterfront.
