Prešeren Monument

Built in 1905, the monument to the national prophet, France Prešeren (1800-1849), is one of the most famous monuments in Slovenia. The figure of the poet, whose author is Ivan Zajec, is 3.5 m high. The sculpture of the woman above is a poetic muse, the prototype of which was Julija Primic - Prešeren's long-standing unrequited love.
