The institution founded in 1821 is today the most important natural museum of Slovenia. Presents at permanent exhibitions incl. collections of insects, plants, minerals and remains of fossil animals. One of the most interesting exhibits is the eighteenth-century, the oldest preserved herbarium in Slovenia, which has 50,000 plants.
