Lomnicky Peak
Local name: Lomnický štít
Lomnica is the second highest peak of the Tatra Mountains. It rises to a height of 2,655 m above sea level. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area due to the existence of the cable car that you can easily get to the summit to admire the magnificent Tatra panorama.
Until the second half of the 19th century, when precise measurements were carried out, Lomnica was considered the highest peak of the Tatra Mountains. This is an outstanding vertex, from which numerous side plays depart. The silhouette of Lomnica was so recognizable that the Hungarian Berzevichi family had it in their coat of arms from the 15th century.
Lomnica is one of the few peaks in the Slovak Tatras available to the general public. You can reach the top by a cable car from Łomnicki Staw. You can get here on foot or by another train from Tatranska Lomnica. The queue overcomes a level difference of 1700 meters. From the summit there is a wide panorama, which includes about 300 Tatra peaks.
