Castle ruins located 20 km north of Bratislava, on a limestone rock hill, at an altitude of 486 m above sea level. The castle belonged to the system of defensive castles built along the Czech-Hungarian border in the 13th century.
The first mention of the castle dates back to 1273, although in some historical sources you can date from 1314. A typical, small medieval castle was not rebuilt until the 16th century. Defensive walls, a tower, bastions adapted for setting up artillery, fragments of which have survived to this day, were built. .
In the mid-18th century a fire broke out in the castle, which caused a lightning strike. A significant part of the castle was then destroyed. During the Napoleonic Wars, in 1809, French soldiers blew up the walls and the castle fell into ruin.
