Štrbské Pleso is a place and a Tatra pond in the High Tatras. They are located at an altitude of about 1350 m above sea level. The village is a well-known holiday center and winter sports center. There are numerous hotels and guesthouses by the lake. A marked trail leads from Štrbské Pleso leading to Rysy from the Slovak side.
The Štrbské Pond has an area of almost 20 hectares. It was formed due to the melting of dead ice formed after the retreat of a glacier. There are two smaller, boggy tanks in the area. Around the pond there was a walking trail with resting places. There is also a boat dock here.
Štrbské Pleso has been a well-known holiday center at the foot of the highest parts of the Tatra Mountains since the end of the 19th century. There are many marked hiking trails from here. There is also a ski resort with a lift to the Solniska peak.
