Castle Muráň

Local name: Hrad Muráň

The fortress, built on the Ciganka hill (935 m), is one of the highest situated medieval castles in Slovakia. It was established in the 13th century to protect the road leading from Gemera to Liptov and Zvolen. Currently, it is a preserved ruin.
