Zigmund's Gate
Local name: Žigmundova brána
Zygmunt's Gate (Zigmundov Bran) is one of the entrances that led to the Bratislava castle in the Middle Ages. The building preserved until today is massive and covered with a tent roof. A narrow passage with a Gothic portal decorated with pinnacles leads to the top of the castle hill.
The gate is a remnant of a Gothic castle built by Sigismund of Luxembourg. She also took her name from him. It is currently the only part of the Gothic palace that has been preserved in an unchanged form. It guards the entrance to the hill from the cathedral located in the Old Town.
