Maximilian's Fountain
Local name: Maximiliánova fontána
Maximilian Fountain (Maximilianova Fontana a Stvorec) also called the Roland Fountain stands on the square in Bratislava. Above the water bowl is the figure of Emperor Maximilian Habsburg in armor.
The fountain was built in 1572 to celebrate the coronation of Maksymilian Habsburg as King of Hungary. It was made by sculptor Ondrej Luttringer. In the eighteenth century, it gained its present appearance thanks to the raised plinth and the change of decorations on the bear.
