Dessewffy Palace
Local name: Dessewffyho palác
Dessewffy Palace is one of the most impressive buildings of the Old Town. The eclectic building with predominantly neo-renaissance elements has a beautiful, harmonious facade decorated with rustication and a cornice imitating entablature. Above the entrance there is a carved stone portal. The palace is now in private hands and there are conference and business rooms for rent.
The palace was built in 1870. Its architect was the famous Slovak master of that period, Ignac Feigler. He designed a building in whose facade you can find many references to the mature Italian Renaissance. After World War I, the bank was located here. In the years 1948–1989 the palace was occupied by the Czechoslovak-Soviet Friendship Organization.
Currently, the palace has private owners. It was thoroughly renovated by them in the spirit of the era. Conference rooms and offices for rent have been created in stylized, luxurious interiors. Business meetings are held here. In addition, the building operates the gallery Borak Sipka, a Slovak artist creating in glass. There are also exhibition rooms and exhibitions of young art creators.
