The complex of the Franciscan church and monastery is currently the oldest preserved religious building in Bratislava. The church was to be built by King Władysław IV Kumańczyk as a thank you for winning the battle in Moravian Field in 1278. The neighboring monastery was the place of election for King Ferdinand I, the first Habsburg on the throne of Hungary.
