Arthur Fleischmann Museum

Local name: Múzeum Arthura Fleischmanna

The Arthur Fleischman Museum occupies several rooms in one of the tenement houses in the Old Town of Bratislava. It presents sculptures created during Fleischman's entire life, made of both traditional materials and Plexiglas. They mainly depict people's heads and figures.

Born in Bratislava, Arthur Fleischman was professionally connected primarily with London. His works, however, were created on four continents, including the island of Bali, which had a big impact on their subject. The artist was also deeply religious, which was reflected in his work. As one of the few, he made sculptures of four currently active popes during his life.

At the exhibition in Bratislava you can follow the development of his work from the 1930s to his death at the end of the 20th century. Many of them are made of Plexiglas, whose use for sculptural purposes was a precursor.
