Slobozia is a small, quiet town in the vicinity of the popular health resort of Amara. You can also visit the National Museum of Agriculture here.
The city has developed in the past mainly as a commercial center on the route between Bucharest and Constanta. From the 15th century, it was under Turkish rule for over 300 years. Today it is a small local center. When visiting Slobozia, you can see, among others contemporary, beautifully decorated with polychromes cathedral of the Ascension, the monastery of Sfinții Voievozi and the wooden church of St. Nicholas.
The biggest attraction of Slobozia is the Amara Lake, 5 km from the city, with a balneological resort. You can enjoy bathing in warm mineral waters here, and the local climate has a beneficial effect on health.
