The collection of the Natural History Museum includes over 2 million exhibits. They include zoological, botanical, paleontological, geological and ethnographic collections. The exhibitions are divided into three sections - Romanian biodiversity, ecosystems from around the world, as well as prehistoric and marine biology exhibitions.
Nature exhibitions include taxidermy and animal models, which were set in themed dioramas. There are also reconstructed animal skeletons, including an extinct mastodon and a modern whale.
The ethnographic and anthropological collection consists of over 2,000 exhibits from various parts of the world. The collected items include Egyptian and Peruvian mummies, traditional Indonesian weapons, African handicrafts and pre-Columbian pottery. You can also see replicas of Cro-Magnon skulls.
