The museum is dedicated to the military history of the Romanian lands. The collection consists of over 1.2 million items divided into 27 collections. They include 2,100 banners, 1,600 uniforms and 180 heavy cannons. The most interesting exhibits include the 420 mm heavy howitzer M16 and the TACAM R-2 self-propelled gun.
The museum is housed in 4 buildings. The main edifice contains historical collections from the Paleolithic through the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Roman and Middle Ages, to the unification of Romania and the country's participation in World War II. In the second pavilion there are exhibitions devoted to Romanian aviation. You can watch here, among others replicas of Coandă 1910 aircraft and IAR-80 fighter aircraft from World War II, and the modern IAR-93 stormtrooper. In the third pavilion you can see collections of uniforms and weapons, and in the fourth, a collection of carriages and a car belonging to the royal family. In the museum courtyard there is a collection of artillery and combat vehicles.
