The National Geology Museum in Bucharest was opened in 1990. Currently, its collection houses around 80,000 exhibits, mainly samples of rocks, minerals and fossils from various parts of the country. The permanent exhibition comprises 14 exhibitions with approximately 7,700 exhibits.
The museum is housed in a historic building built in 1905. It was designed by the architect Victor Ștefănescu in the Romanian Romantic style.
