Obelisk of Horea, Cloșca and Crișan

The obelisk of Horei, Cloșka and Crișana stands on an artificial hill in front of the Third Gate of the Citadel in the historic fortress of Alba Iulia. It was built in the Art Deco style in 1937 by the sculptor Iosif Fekete and the architect Octavian Mihălțan. It is dedicated to the memory of the three leaders of the peasant uprising of 1784-1785 - Horei, Cloșka and Crișan.

The monument is 22.5 meters high. On one side of the obelisk there is a bas-relief depicting the leaders of the uprising against the outline of the borders of Greater Romania. On the other hand, you can see the figure of the goddess of victory holding a laurel wreath.
