The Alfandega Transport and Communication Museum in Porto is located in the Alfandega Nova building (New Customs House). This place presents the history and development of mass transport and communication in the world. The permanent collection of the museum is entitled "About Automovel no Espaco e no Tempo" (Automobile in space and time). You can see, for example, the first car in Portugal, a vehicle from 1895 imported from Paris.
In addition to exhibition spaces, the Alfandega building also has space for organizing cultural, artistic and entertainment events. The Customs House was built in the 1870s at the initiative of the trade organization Associação Comercial do Porto. In 1992, it was handed over to the association Associação para o Museu dos Transportes e Comunicações, which commissioned the architect Eduardo Souto Mouro to carry out a project of adaptation of the building to the museum space enriched with conference rooms.
