Museu do Centro Hospitalar do Porto is an extraordinary museum located in the Hospital de Santo António. You can admire the rare collection of cabinets, pots, jars, tinctures, scales and old books - in a word, everything that was used in medicine in the nineteenth century.
Part of the exhibition is also devoted to the history of pharmacy of the Joaquim Urbano hospital, specializing in infectious and pulmonary diseases. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about the biogaphy of people associated with this place, as well as various techniques and progress in the production of medicines.
The museum inaugurated October 1, 2013. His mission is to celebrate and promote the memory of the roots of the institution in which he finds himself and its scientific wealth. The exhibition is complemented by shop windows devoted to the history and practice of medicine, located in various places of the hospital.
