The Lviv Fountain is a nineteenth-century fountain built by the French company Compagnie Générale des Eaux pour l'Etranger. It is modeled on the fountain at Town Hall Square in Leicester, England. It is located in the Praça de Gomes Teixeira garden. The fountain is decorated with a group of sculptures depicting four sitting lions. The octagonal granite tank is also decorated with decorative floral motifs.
The Lviv Fountain was created as part of a larger project to meet municipal water needs. In 1880 a competition was held, while the works started in 1883. The construction of the fountain began on September 25, 1886. Shortly afterwards, a public water supply project for the city of Porto was completed. Today, the Lviv Fountain is no longer necessary to supply water to residents, it rather serves as a tourist attraction and subject for numerous photographs.
