"Rotunda" Museum of Martyrdom

Local name: Muzeum Martyrologii „Rotunda”

The Rotunda Museum of Martyrdom is housed in the former Zamość Fortress. During the Second World War a German prison was housed here. In 1947 there was an exhibition devoted to prisoners of Rotunda and the German occupation in the Zamość region.

Visitors are provided with 19 destinations in Rotunda. The last, twenty, is in ruins, bombed during the liberation of Zamosc. There are exhibitions about the various social groups in Rotunda - scouts, priests, teachers. In other rooms you can see expositions on the crimes committed by the Germans on Poles. For example, the prisoners' cell of Majdanek or Cela Oświęcim. A separate exhibition was devoted to the slaughter of the Volyn.

Outside there is a plaque commemorating the victims of the execution in Rotunda. You can also see fragments of a wooden gate leading to the prison.
