The Zoological Garden in Zamość is one of the oldest facilities of that type in Poland. The area of 10ha is inhabited by around 1500 animals belonging to over 200 species. The zoo contains the Butterfly House, modern aquariums and terrariums, open-air runs, and the Monkey House.
Apart from animals, the zoo also offers attractions for children such as blow up castle, pony rides or rope course. Some of the attractions are available only on weekends. There is no shortage of food courts and other attractions. The well-equipped playground is also available here. The youngest can explore the area in rented carts. The Zoological Garden in Zamość is unique in terms of its age and the fact it's the only place like that in the region of Lublin. The zoo was founded in 1918 by the professor of Jan Zamoyski Male Secondary School - Stefan Miller, who created a first natural garden which was to promote learning about nature by direct contact. This principle is still a guiding idea of the zoo.Less
