The museum is an interesting attraction, especially for lovers of armaments history. Museum collections are both a review of the history of the city of Zamość and the fortress, as well as collections of firearms, melee weapons, uniforms and equipment. In the new pavilion you can see an exhibition devoted to war tactics and weapons of the 20th century.
The museum includes three independent objects, the oldest of which is the Arsenal building, built in 1582-1583. In the past, the building was located within the defensive walls of the Zamoyski Palace. The building received its current location in the 17th century. The current appearance of the Arsenal is the result of reconstruction in the first half of the nineteenth century. Since then, the facility also served as a state military facility.
The second museum building is the Powder Magazine currently housing a ticket office and a room in which a multimedia spectacle presenting the history of the city and the fortress is presented. The room has a limited number of places, therefore participation in the presentation requires prior reservation.
The third building of the museum, Pavilion under the Curtain, is a modern facility dedicated to the latest history. The permanent exhibition presented here is entitled: "Zamość against the backdrop of military operations and the development of military technology in the 20th century".
