Wrocław Historical Museum, with its headquarters in the Royal Palace, is a branch of the City Museum of Wrocław. It presents the exhibition "1000 years of Wrocław" which consists of about 3000 items including very valuable ones such as the oldest in Poland police badge from 1540, the treasure from Brema (unique collection of crafts of Silesian goldsmithing), graphics, ceramics by Pablo Picasso, or the blade from the prison guillotine from 1945.
The collection is located in 25 exhibition halls. The museum provides audio guides in Polish, German and English, and the catalog published in three languages. The exposition is equipped with numerous multimedia stands such as educational kiosks, large-format screens, touch screens, video projections, audio recordings, and dioramas.Apart from "1000 years of Wrocław", there are two other permanent exhibitions: "Royal Chambers" and "Beyersdorf' Room". The first exhibition consists of six renovated and fully equipped chambers of Prussian kings including the yellow room of Frederick William III who resided there during the Napoleonic Wars. "Beyersdorf' Room" is an originally equipped Baroque apartment of merchant Adrian Bögel which was located in the tenement house in Plac Solny. The name of the room comes from the surname of the donator - Adelheida Beyersdorf.Less
