Museum of Pharmacy

Local name: Muzeum Farmacji

The museum is subordinate to the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Silesian Piasts in Wrocław. The exhibitions here are devoted to the history of health sciences and treatment (especially pharmacy) over the centuries. Here you can see a medieval alchemy workshop, a Renaissance pharmacy, as well as exhibitions on natural and synthetic medicines, as well as apparatus and tools.

The museum is located in a beautiful, historic tenement house - the only one in Poland in the Renaissance-Classicist style. The building, as it belonged to pharmacists for centuries, is also the only facility in the country where from the second In the 13th century until the beginning of the 1950s, there was a pharmacy operating continuously.

After long efforts, the University bought the tenement house, today known as the House of the Silesian Apothecary, and in 2016 it opened a museum planned from the 1960s. Visiting the exhibition is free of charge.
