Folk Culture Museum

Local name: Muzeum Kultury Ludowej

The Folk Culture Museum in Węgorzewo was established in 1991 and is located in a historic 18th-century suburban mansion. It collects museums related to folk culture of ethnic groups living in Warmia and Masuria.

The exhibit consists of objects of various character, from everyday objects, through clothes, to folk art and objects related to the rituals practiced in the region. At the exhibition you can also see archaeological and historical monuments, old postcards and tiles - the oldest dating from the 16th century.

At the museum there is an Ethnographic Park showing examples of the old Mazurian construction. These are, among others. wooden huts brought here from the surrounding villages, half-timbered forge and remedy.

According to local legends in the manor house occupied by the museum lives the spirit of a man who walks by night at the rooms and creaking stairs, dressed in a black long coat.
