Henryk Sienkiewicz Statue

Local name: Pomnik Henryka Sienkiewicza

Located inside: Łazienki Park

The monument of Sienkiewicz, placed in the Royal Baths, presents the seated figure of a writer, from whom three pages of the manuscript fall out. In the neighborhood of the figure there is a shield with the image of the Virgin Mary surrounded by the arms of Poland and Lithuania. At the back of the monument, there are plaques on which the names of the founders are located.

The location of the monument is the western part of the Łazienkowski Park, in the vicinity of Aleje Ujazdowskie. You will unveil sculptures in 2000, and the granddaughter and great-grandson of the writer attended the ceremony. The very idea of commemorating the writer was created much earlier, as already in 1916. Uncertain times and lack of concrete decisions made the construction committee only set up before World War II, in 1937.

The war again halted the implementation of the plans, this time for several decades, and returned to them again in 1997. The final project was prepared by prof. Kazimierz Gustaw Zemła, and cast in bronze was made in Tadeusz Zwoliński's studio in Iłża.
