Walewice Palace became famous because of Maria Walewska and her many-year love affair with Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. Walewice offers the monumental palace and park, and also the stud farm which organizes lessons of horseriding and rides in britzkas. A hotel operates here.
The interiors of the palace were used in the movie "Marysia i Napoleon" (Mary and Napoleon) in which title roles were played by Beata Tyszkiewicz and Gustaw Holoubek. Historians didn't find a proof that Napoleon ever visited the young mistress here. A reference to this mysterious story is Napoleon's Office - one of the attractions in the classicist building.Covering the area of several dozen hectares, the park located next to the palace impresses with its rare species of trees (katsura, tuliptree), and sculptures depicting mythological characters.Less
