Museum of Natural History and Hunting

Local name: Muzeum Przyrodniczo-Łowieckie

The Nature and Hunting Museum in Uzarzewo is housed in the eclectic palace of Józef Żychliński. Is a branch of the National Museum of Agriculture and Agri-Food Industry in Szreniawa. The palace presents prepared animals, hunting trophies, weapons and items of equipment as well as photos and documents. The coach house belonging to the palace has an exhibition of nature, and the new pavilions contain a collection of exotic hunting trophies.

The palace in Uzarzewo was built in the second half of the 19th century. It is an eclectic building modeled on Italian villas and surrounded by a landscape park. The Natural History and Hunting Museum has been operating here since 1977. In the palace rooms, objects are shown to trace the history of hunting in Greater Poland. Gathered here were equipment and weapons used by hunters, as well as prepared animals and hunting trophies. The collection from the palace is complemented by the nature exhibition "Game environment" presented in the coach house.

At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, Adam Smorawiński gave the Museum his collection of hunting trophies from around the world and over 100 crafted parrots. They are presented in new pavilions in the vicinity of the palace.
