The New Zoo in Poznań is the second biggest zoo in Poland. It's located on the White Mountain nearby Lake Malta. Visitors can view a lot of animal species from which about 40% are endangered with extinction, globally or locally. Visitors can use the park train at any time while walking around the zoo. The additional attraction is Poznań Fortress - Fort III.
Animals live in enclosures which recreate their natural environments in the most possible way. The first specimens which were introduced to the zoo were red deer, fallow deer, camel, Lama, and guanaco. Other species which can be seen today are elephants in the spacious elephant exhibit, lynxes, lemurs, bears, numerous amphibian, reptile, insect and bird species, and many more.Located in the park, Fort III was built by the Prussian army in the 19th century. Nowadays, it serves as a wintering place for bats. The building consists of aboveground and underground parts and is opened for tourists.Less
