Bishop Jordan Bridge in Poznań was built on the river Cybina in order to join Śródka with Ostrów Tumski. It is designed for pedestrians and cyclists. Standing on it, one can admire a beautiful view of the cathedral and fabulous tenements. The bridge is also a target for many enamored, that attach so called " locks of love" to it.
A wooden construction joining these two banks existed already in early Middle Ages, precisely in the reign of Mieszko I. At the beginning of 20th century a steel bridge was built, that has many technical defects and it had to be rebuilt. During the Second World War it was blown up. Later, for several dozen years there was a provisional crossing on the river. In 2007, official opening of the current construction took place. This Poznań bridge got its name after the first bishop of Poznań and Polish dioceses – Jordan. For the construction, a steel span stream was used from the former St. Roch bridge. The abutments, made of reinforced concrete and placed on stilts, were decorated with clinker tiles and red granite. In the middle part of the bridge, there is a paved surface and in the sidewalks was placed a non-slip resin coat.Less
