Treasure House - Regional Museum
Local name: Skarbczyk - Muzeum Regionalne
One of the monuments within the castle in Szydlow is Skarbczyk. This late Gothic building was built from the reconstruction of the round towers here. Today it houses a regional museum with three exhibitions: geological, archaeological and historical. The torture hall was rebuilt in the cellars.
Skarbczyk is a part of the castle in Szydlow. In its place in the Middle Ages stood two round towers. To this day, their foundations have survived. By the middle of the 16th century, the towers were demolished and a residential building was erected in their place, which was adjacent to the ramparts. In the middle of the 20th century the Skarbczyk was renovated and designed for museum purposes. You can visit three exhibitions here. The Geological shows the complicated history and construction of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, the archaeological site allows to see the prehistory of Szydlow and the surrounding area, while the historical shows the past of the royal city. In the basement of the building at the beginning of the 21st century a former torture hall was reconstructed, which is an additional attraction of this place.
