Szwajcarka Mountain Hostel
Local name: Schronisko PTTK Szwajcarka
The historic hostel located in the Rudawski Landscape Park, in the Sokole Mountains, at an altitude of 520 m above sea level. The site has remained unchanged since 1823 and is the only mountain shelter made entirely of wood.
The first owner of the object was the brother of the Prussian king, Wilhelm von Hohenzollern. He gave the order to build it, like the hunting house from the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland, where his wife came from. Unusual for all Tyrolean houses, the building is surrounded by a balcony on all sides.
There were forester's rooms on the ground floor, and the prince's study on the first floor (the room with the huge fireplace has survived to this day). The place became very popular, an inn was created in it. In 1950 the building was taken over by PTTK and a hostel was opened there.
