Bolczów Castle
Local name: Zamek Bolczów
Remains of the castle rise on the granite hill above the Janówka stream. At present the ruins are part of the Jeleniogórska Valley Cultural Park and are open to the public. It is a great place for lovely walks. From the original building to this day preserved original fragments of the 16th century walls of the gates, as well as barbakan, basteja, water tank, part of the peripheral walls and reconstructed remains of two residential houses.
The history of the castle dates back to 1375, and the initiator of its construction was probably the mayor of Clericus Bolz, and his name has since become a building. For the next century the castle was managed by the owners of the looted, so the object was neglected and often passed from hand cancer. In 1608, it was taken over by Daniel von Schaffgotsch, who began the expansion and modernization of defense equipment.
In 1645, the Swedes took control of the fort and set fire to it by retiring in December of that year. Since then, Bolczów remains in ruins. Thanks to the development of Silesian tourism in the 19th century, the reconstructed object became a major attraction of the region.
