Red Town Hall

Local name: Czerwony Ratusz

The Red Town Hall in Szczecin, also called the New Town Hall, is one of the most beautiful and most impressive monuments in the city. Formerly, the building was the seat of the authorities, and now there are various offices of municipal institutions, including the Maritime Office and the Inland Navigation Office. Furthermore, the Business Club is located at the bottom of the building.

The Town Hall is a monumental building, constructed on a rectangular plan in the neo-Gothic style. The large size of the object was to emphasize its representativeness. The entrance of the building is decorated with a beautiful portico. In the recesses there are pillars, and above them are statues representing figures that symbolize various areas of life, thanks to which the city had developed. Therefore, one can admire there the works presenting "Agriculture", "Industry", "Sailing", and "Knowledge".

The town hall was built in the 19th century. It preserved almost the whole period of World War II, unfortunately in 1945 it was set on fire by German militias. In the 1960s, the reconstruction of the building has began, and in 2014 the renovation of the facade was finally completed.
