Gallery of Ancient Art

Local name: Galeria Sztuki Dawnej

The exhibitions of the Gallery of Ancient Art are mainly focused on presenting works of Pomeranian art from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. There are, among others, Romanesque capitals from Kołbacz, early Gothic crucifix from Kamień Pomorski, and a portrait of Prince Philip I painted by Lucas Cranach the Younger.

The gallery is located in the 18th-century Landed Gentry House. The building had been built in the style of the northern classicist baroque on the order of the King of Prussia, Frederick William I. Originally, the building served as the place of meetings of the Pomeranian Province self-government and the residence of the King himself, who stayed there during his visit in Szczecin.

The palace is decorated with a beautiful tympanum with the coat of arms of the ruler Frederic Wilhelm I, which background are panoplies and two sculptures symbolizing Justice and Prudence. Underneath the Pomeranian coat of arms was placed.
